Professor Włodzimierz Sady was born on 26 July, 1946 in Porąbka Uszewska (Malopolska Region). He graduated from the Agricultural University in Krakow (Faculty of Horticulture) in 1972 and was awarded Master of Science inthe field of Horticulture. He completed his doctoral dissertation and obtained Doctor of Philosophy degree in Agricultural Sciences in 1977, while in 1987 the post-doc title of “Doctor habilitated” in horticulture. In 1996 he obtained the title of Professor of Agricultural Sciences.
He started his academic career at the faculty of Horticulture, AU in Krakow, where in 1992-1996 was the Head of Unit and since 1996 has been the Head of Department of Soil Cultivation and Fertilization in Horticulture.
In 200-2005 acted as Dean of the Faculty of Horticulture and in 2005 was elected the Vice-Rector for Education and Student Affairs. He completed his term of office on 31 August 2012.
His main scientific interests focus on technologies of cultivation, fertilization and mineral nutrition of plants, but also on production of vegetables with high nutritional and biological values. His scientific output comprises over 330 publications including 132 original works, 1 patent and one utility model, 82 papers published in conference materials and 18 implementation instructions.

To date – member of International Society for Horticultural Science, Krakow Society of Horticultural Sciences, Scientific Organization of Horticulture Engineers (acting Head in 1982-1986).
1995-1998 – a member of the team responsible for restructuring and modernization of agriculture who prepared the outlines for agriculture development for the south-eastern Poland.
1996-2000 – member of Agricultural Advisory Board (Regional Agricultural Extension Centre in Boguchwała)
1982-1986 – member of Agricultural Committee in Krakow
2001 – to date – member of the Malopolska Association for Agricultural Extension.
Co-founder of the University of Agriculture Foundation – established in 2006.
